2024 Torbay Congress - Entry Fees and Prizes

The entry fees and prizes for the 2024 Torbay Congress are set out below.

Entry Fees

Open Tournament (any player may enter)£42 (ECF gold members, and above, may deduct £12)
Major Tournament (for ratings under 1950)£39 (ECF silver members, and above, may deduct £9)
Intermediate Tournament (for ratings under 1750)£39 (ECF silver members, and above, may deduct £9)
Foundation Tournament (for ratings under 1500)£39 (ECF silver members, and above, may deduct £9)

Juniors (under 18 on 1st September 2024) receive a £5 discount on the above prices.

Prizes and Torbay League Individual Championship Trophies

In each tournament, the top player representing a club in the Torbay Chess League receives a trophy. In addition a trophy is awarded to the highest placed Devon player in the rated tournaments and to the highest placed Devon Junior.

Rating and other prizes will be dependent on entrants.

Best Score by a Devon Player in the rated tournaments (Major/Intermediate/Foundation): Ralph Newman Cup.

Best score by a junior across all four tournaments: John Whitfield Cup.

There will be a prize of £40 for the team of four players from the same club with the highest aggregate score. Team entries must be submitted before the end of round 2.

So that prize money may be as widely distributed as possible, no player may win more than one prize (excluding any team prize). Money prizes may be combined and shared. Unrated players may not win rating prizes and not more than £50 in any tournament except the Open. Prizes will be paid by Internet Banking unless special circumstances apply.
